Step into the world of historic needlework with this richly detailed kit for creating a trio of elegant accessories: a round velvet-covered box, a needle case, and a ruler with an embroidered sleeve. Each piece features sumptuous materials, intricate embellishments, and metal embroidery.
This charming and richly detailed round box is a small treasure in itself. The lid is covered in burgundy silk velvet and showcases an intricately embroidered Tudor Rose at its center. The rose is brought to life with a variety of threads, including gold and silver vintage metal threads and accented with glinting green jewels. The box’s sides and interior are upholstered with a luxurious metallic silk jacquard fabric, featuring a subtle shimmer and elegant texture that complements the ornate lid. It’s perfectly sized to hold three thread winders — each one as decorative as it is functional. The Box is 2 1/2” diameter x 1 5/8” tall
Two of the thread winders are crafted from antiqued filigree bronze, their scrolling patterns visible through rich wrappings of green and white thread. The third stands out with deep red thread and a cabochon center that frames a tiny portrait of Queen Elizabeth I, adding a distinctly Elizabethan charm and narrative to the ensemble.
This exquisite needle case is both functional and ornamental, echoing the elegance of Tudor and Elizabethan craftsmanship. It is fashioned in the style of a small coin purse with a metal kiss clasp and embossed frame with a warm antiqued patina. The front proudly displays the monogram "E R" (Elizabeth Regina), worked in gold metal thread using goldwork embroidery techniques on a rich burgundy velvet. The monogram is entwined with a stylized motif that continues to the reverse side showcasing elegant silver and gold scrolls encasing red crystal jewels giving it an air of refinement and regal charm.
The interior is lined with a lush silk jacquard in coppery gold tones, featuring a woven foliate pattern that complements the exterior's rich palette. Wool felt pages in deep burgundy are stitched into the interior, serving as a tidy holder for needles. The Needle case is 1 3/4” x 3”
The bronze metal ruler is etched with measurement markings and scalloped edges giving it an ornamental quality. The top of the ruler is crowned with a circular miniature portrait framed in a filigree-style metal setting. The portrait depicts Queen Elizabeth I complete wearing her ruff collar. The silk velvet ruler sleeve case provides a luxurious tactile surface featuring intricate embroidery using metal gold threads in a vine motif adorned with green crystal jewels.
The back of the case features silver metal threads and red jewels complementing the front without repeating it exactly. The Ruler Case with Ruler is 5” x 1 1/4”
