This needlework kit allows you to create a round velvet-covered box, a needle case and a ruler sleeve case all worthy of an Elizabethan workbox.
Enjoy learning new techniques to make the round box. For the lid, work an intricately embroidered Tudor Rose on hand-dyed silk velvet using vintage metal threads! Step by step instructions and photos will guide you in using the preprinted rinse away design sheet that adheres to the velvet. No guess work - this design sheet will indicate the location of each stitch. Then the assembly of the round sewing box is made easy by simply lacing the perimeter backstitched outlines of the silk jacquard over the structural form. To fit inside the box, there are three small thread winders; two filigree bronze metal winders and the third with a cabochon center that frames a tiny portrait of Queen Elizabeth I, adding a regal touch.
The richly adorned needle case is fashioned from silk burgundy velvet and features a clasp closure with an embossed brass frame. Embroidered the front with the cipher "E R" in vintage gold metal threads. Elizabeth’s monogram and all other motifs are easily worked using the preprinted rinse away design sheet adhered to the velvet. The reverse side of the needle case showcases a scroll motif worked in metal threads and crystal embellishments. The interior reveals wool needle pages and lush hand-dyed silk jacquard lining.
The ruler features delicately scalloped edges and precision-etched markings, topped with a miniature portrait of Queen Elizabeth I, set within a filigree bezel. The ruler slides into the companion sleeve that you will create in rich burgundy velvet, embroidered with metal gold threads in a meandering vine pattern and embellished with green crystal accents. The back of the sleeve displays a scrolling design in fine silver threads and red crystal jewel details.
